HELP! I've posted before but the answers I get are not
detailed enough for me to solve the problem myself.
Please be as detailed as possible so I can fix this.

On most of the emails that are being sent to me that have
attachments, the email server is changing my email address
automatically to "FU...@HOTMAIL.MSN.COM" instead
of "FU...@MSN.COM".

Thanks in advance for your help!
Chris
Please send recommendation to fu...@msn.com (but don't add
any attachments or I won't get it).

What does that mean? I'm receiving most of my email and
the ones that I don't receive, the sender gets an error
back saying that the email sent to
address, "fu...@hotmail.msn.com" is undeliverable. I also
received an email from a Microsoft MVP saying that I need
to change my email server name.

It's the MSN routing of the email that screwing it, nothing you do on your end other than finding a different ISP/email provider will change it.

Chris,

Make sure that your OE server settings are correct as per the instructions
below:

The correct http server address for @msn.com email for Outlook and Outlook
Express is:

http://oe.msn.msnmail.hotmail.com/cgi-bin/hmdata

@hotmail.com uses a different address:

http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp

If you are using either MSN Explorer 7 or MSN 8, have you
tried to remove and readd your account from the sign in
screen. Keep in mind thoough that when the address is
removed that any messages that are saved on the computer
in the archived, outbox, or sent will be deleted.

It's not? They why do I see returned x...@hotmail.msn.com as undeliverable messages when they were sent to x...@msn.com ?
What is not right is for a supposed ISP (MSn) to not have REAL email. Who in their right mind would sign up for an ISP that only offered a quasi hotmail account, no NTTP newsgroup access, no web space, no POP server and charged 7 to 12 dollars a month more than real ISPs who do offer these basic services.

If the wrong server is selected hotmail is appended after @, causing the

It's not possible to keep up with something that's misinterpreted by someone. Maybe you should consider some new "cut n' paste" pat answers to questions that you can't comprehend. Something along the lines of "What...me worry?".

Ok, lets back up here and read again.

Chris said: "I'm receiving most of my email and

the ones that I don't receive, the sender gets an error
back saying that the email sent to

address, "XX...@hotmail.msn.com" is undeliverable"

To me, the operative word is *sender* who gets the error message, not Chris. The email messages *never* get to the point that user settings could be affecting them.

Additionally, I don't have a web based setup but I'm pretty certain the any email sent to any...@hotmail.msn.com will go through, assuming the anyuser has a web based setup.

I'm going to try to clarify this one last time. I only have one MSn addy in my book. This person does not have OE set up to retrieve her MSn hotmail. She only reads it through the MSn kiddie interface. If I sent her 5 emails right now to x...@msn.com two would come back as undeliverable to x...@hotmail.msn.com . One of those two messages would actually end up in her MSn inbox along with the three that were not erroneously flagged. If she is using 'the wrong server' then her MSn software must have set her up with 'the wrong server' ? No that can't be right after all MS/MSn is perfect eh...

If she has the "wrong server(s) set in her software HOW to the messages that get through do so?

There is no question but what she has the right settings - else she would not receive any messages.

As we all (well those of us that think things through - we know who that excludes) know the problem is, quite obviously, a glitch in the message routing code within ms/msn's system.

You recall a couple of years ago I did email testing for a Houston Co.  Many thousands of messages a day were tested in and out of here.  If memory server, 85% were delivered OK.  A small portion of the remaining 15% were delivered VERY (days to weeks) late while most of the remaining 15% were NEVER delivered.  At that time shmvp was insistent that something MUST be wrong with my settings and/or the method I used for testing.  She is just as off base now as then.
