Hello,
when I tried to log into my hotmail account yesterday it
brought up a screen offering extra space and some new
services,i clicked through this and eventually got to my
inbox only to find all my mails are gone.I hadn't accessed
the account in about a month, does anyone know if there is
a way of contacting the hotmail admins to see if these
mails can be salvaged.
thanks

To keep a free Hotmail account in good standing, you must access it at least
once every 30 days. Had you done so?

Nope. You snooze, you lose. Furthermore, you won't be able to re-activate
the address for at least six (6) months.

If the mail's gone, the mail's gone. Quit while you're ahead. You're lucky
the account is still active.

PA..I've a few free msn.com(not hotmail.com) that I regularly use for other
IE and web activity for purchase where a confirmation is usually sent
immediately..forward that mail to a pop3 account..then let regularly allow
those accounts go beyond the 30 days..but never longer than 60...all dump
all the mail as expected after the 30 days..but never have they been
deactivated...

You are welcome...but I do agree that there is some window where 'no return'
is applicable..I've only experienced it once, but the hotmail.com address
that ceased was over two yrs old.
I've not let an msn.com free address go longer than 45-60 days.. Afaik there
shouldn't be a difference between the msn vs hotmail prefix. And of course
if a extended storage is in place, it never expires, but in my case with the
free msn.com addies, that option is not enabled. I've only one account that
used that service but retired at renewal when my pop3 msn.com addresses
could be retrieved via passport sign on to the hotmail web site. Both of
those pop3 accounts when logged on via that site verify the 10mb storage and
also allow me while on the road on business or on vacation to retrieve up to
4 other pop3 accounts..
