I really hope that someone can help. I have a client using MSN 10. She has
created about 7 folders to save email onto her XP Pro machine. However many
of the emails that she moves into those folders become 'empty'. Many but not
all. What happens is this: I click on an email to open it, and the email
opens, but all of the data seems to have been stripped out of it. There is
no data in the To, From, Date or Subject fields. Also, the body of the
message is blank and if there were an attachment, it also has vanished. It
appears to be simply the structure of the message without anything additional
in it.

Again, this is not for all messages in the Save to My Computer folders, but
it is happening in all folders, and there is no consistency as far as sender,
attachment or not, etc. No consistency at all.

If this cannot be remedied is it possible to port all of her folders into
WLM, or some other client so that she can access them?

Thanks,

Monty Palmer

I suggest moving them from the folder on the PC (on my computer) and back to the
server folders. MSN Mail synchronizes between the server and the PC for all
folders and items other than those in the "folders on my computer."
If the items are moved back, do the contents apper when viewing the message
either in the MSN client or via the web at http://www.hotmail.com ?

I am pretty happy to see that you are still patrolling these waters. Thank
you.

I am going back to see her tomorrow morning. I was just going to install
Windows Live Mail client and see if I can rename them (.000 -> .eml) and then
import them into that.

Is that unadvisable?

Hi, Monty.
That should work. My guess is that the database is somehow corrupted.
When you import them to Windows Live Mail, I'd then still move them to the
server side folders so that they are available everywhere and not subject to
local issues (hard drive failure, etc.).
Let us know what transpires.
