At my organization we have been using msmq for a number of years
between our windows boxes.
Recently I was asked whether it was feasible for our applications to
talk to Oracle Advanced Queues on a Solaris box. From superficial
research the answer would be yes as long as the code directly
referenced the advanced queue..
However, due to the points below I see a store & forward messaging
solution as being more robust.
1. We are talking to an external organization, whose after hours
support is nil, thus if anything went wrong with the application, we
would need to handle it in our code.
2. We are using the Internet as our communication medium, while more
reliable it can't be depended upon.
Has anyone managed to get Microsoft MSMQ setup to store and forward
messages to an Oracle AS address using http as the transport.
