Trying to install Message Queing on a Window's 2000 DC. Had it installed,
but wanted to change some settings so uninstalled it using the components
section and now when I try to install it I get this error:

MSMQ Server Setup Failure

Unable to load MQQM.DLL.

Error Code: 0x7F
Error Description: The specified procedure could not be found.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi,

I suggest that you stop Windows File Protection(WFP). Delete all the
mq*.dll files in winnt\system directory.
Restart WFP and then reboot. After rebooting try to reinstall.

Thanks,

Gautam

Hi

I have what appears to be exactly the same message (though some of the
prelude is deffierent).

Could you tell me how to "stop Windows File Protection" - I keep trying to
delete the files, but they keep coming back!

thanks
Michael.

Michael,

In Windows 2000 SP2, you cannot use the popular SFCdisable registry
mod..
You will have to remove MSMQ from control panel add/remove.. Then go
into CMD
and c:\winnt\system32\dllcache
"DEL mq*.dll" to remove the Cached DLL's that Windows File Protection
uses to replace the files you delete.
Then cd.. to c:\winnt\system32 and "DEL mq*.dll" to remove the running
versions.

Then reboot (not SURE this is required, but I would do it to be sure
to clear the corrupt stuff), then reinstall MSMQ (which should ask for
the SP2 CD to get fresh files) and you're set.
