Microsoft sidewinder mouse not recognised

hello i`m having A LOT of problems with my microsoft sidewinder mouse... the
drivers dont seem to work i tryed older drivers newer drivers ... the ones
that i got with the mouse i tryed first ... then i uninstalled them .. and
installed newer ones ... then i uninstalled those and installed a lot of
other drivers that i found around ... nothing seems to work ... whenever i
plug it i just get a message popup from my start bar sayng "usb device not
recognized one of the usb devices attached to this computer has
malfunctioned" ... this mouse has NEVER worked ... problem is that i wass so
busy with my work that i never got the chance to take it back and it got out
of waranty i think ... is there any way that i can fix it ?
i`m using a intel core duo cpu E8500 @3.16 ghz, 3.17ghz ... 4gb of ram ...
my motherboard is a asus p5q .... oh yeah ... the name of the mouse is
MICROSOFT SIDEWINDER MOUSE .... thas all ... not x3 x5 x6 xx7

Have you tried it on another computer? Have you tried it on a different USB
port? Make sure you are plugging into a port on the PC, not on a USB hub. It
needs a powered USB, so if it isn't working on a USB on the front, try one
on the back.

i tryed it on 2 different computers ... i tryed it on 3 operating systems
.... and i plugged it in the PC USB slot not a usb hub or some other hardware
like that ... its the motherboard`s USB .. my guess is that the drivers dont
work ... any sugestions ? ...

Usually when a device doesn't work on multiple computers and operating
systems, I would suspect the device has a problem. The warranty period on
the Sidewinder should be 3 years. If you might still be in warranty, it's
worth calling. Let me know if you need help finding the number.
