Long time ago I buy bought a Dexxa steering wheel to my
gameport, but on my new computer their is no gameport. I
have a gameport to USB converter from another joystick,
but windows XP can't find my wheel when I add it to the
game controllers list it says:

"Missing Gameport or Gameport Drivers!

Your Gameport or Gameport drivers are not properly
configured.
Please consult the Device Manager."

Is their a way to install it to an USB port?

(Please reply to e-mail)

In my experience, those USB - Gameport adapters will not
work with controllers that were not designed to use them.
I tried the same trick with a converter myself with some
pre-usb Microsoft gamepads. The new gamepads could use
the converter, but the old ones were never recognized.

Unfortunately, I know of no way around this. Even
installing a card with a gameport built in (like a
SoundBlaster card) is no guarantee, because many of the
old gameport drivers don't work any more even in Windows
Me, let alone XP. Most likely, you have an additional
plastic doorstop now, unless someone else knows a way.

Heck, I can't even get my Microsoft Precision 2 USB
joystick to work with DirectX 9.0a.

My recommendation is to buy minimal hardware, because it
tends to change too fast. I still ended up buying a wheel
and stuff (instead of following my own advice), but I know
some day soon I will be irritated to find it no longer
works. The price of progress can be steep, especially
when all of the hardware providers WANT you to buy new
stuff.
