How can I make the MS agent read email or any other text for that matter?

Just read your text from a file or whatever into a string/character variable
and then use the Speak method of Agent like:

Merlinsfx.Speak "Hello, here is your mail."

or

Merlinsfx.Speak texttospeakvariable

If you're interested, I've made a VERY BASIC VisualBASIC6.0 program that
reads me my mail and tasks from MSOutlook98. It's not for sale; I'm just
using it for myself. The source isn't very well documented and it might be
hard to follow but you can have it if you want to get a start. I've also
made it in VisualFoxpro6.0.

I was looking for something a little more easy to do.. like, isn't there a
simple way to copy something into the clipboard and have the agent read it
or maybe a right-click pop-up menu or something like that? I don't have a
background in programming.

Brandon,

Sorry. It sounds like you just need a pre-made program to do that for you.
I'm sure there are some of those already made out there.

Good program. It uses two agents that interact on your desktop. The "tell a
joke" command is a riot (even if the joke is not funny)

Lately, I prefer AgentShell found here:
http://www.cam.org/~raybiss/agents/indexshell.html

Either program will put an agent on the desktop, where it will respond to
your voice commands, including reading text from the clipboard. AgentShell
is very flexable and can be tweaked easily by modifying it's several .ini
files.

There is also a shareware program called "Speak", made to do exactly what
you asked about. I have not attempted to use this program since an early
version refused to install on my NT workstation and a later one crashed it
hard.
