I had thought of putting off a conversion attempt from M07 to Q10 until
after going from Vista 32 and XP 32 to Win 7 64 (not an upgrade), but then
thought about if I might loose my current expired M07's updating (yes, still
updating prices and downloading from cooperating FIs (the free ones)--no Live
ID) upon reinstall. So that is a question. Has anyone who is running an
expired, but still updating M07, reinstalled on Win 7 and found if the
reinstalled M07 works as before the reinstall?

This is my first post here, but I've been following the discussions in
this newsgroup ever since MS dropped its nuclear bomb in the Spring.
I haven't checked out the Win7 Compatibility Center concerning Money+,
so can't comment on that.
However, I've been running M+ successfully on both Win7-32 RC and now
Win7-32 RTM with no problems at all.
In July I switched from WinXP to a clean install of Win7 RC. With my
heart in my mouth -- and fully prepared to revert to WinXP if
necessary,
I installed Money+ -- and was relieved when M+ both installed with no
problem and activated online transparently.
Last weekend, with the new Win7 RTM installation CD having arrived in
the mail, I performed another clean install of Win7. Two points may be
worth noting here:
1. The Easy File Transfer -- a part of the Win7 installation but also
downloadable from MS -- will back up all data files and Windows
settings, as well as other files at user's choice. If Money is
installed
in the old OS, Easy File Transfer will save Money's settings and
restore
them in the new OS. And while re-activation of M+ _IS_ required, for
me,
at least, that was entirely transparent.
2. Installation over top of the existing Windows installation (i.e.
don't reformat the HD) transfers all OS related files to a structured
folder and subfolders named "Windows-old." The advantage to this
approach is that one can easily copy or move files, file sets and whole
folders to the corresponding place in the new OS. For example, all
programs that don't require installation (and a surprising number of
smaller, single purpose programs don't require installation!) can
easily
be run straitaway in the new OS. For example, my usenet news reader,
XNews, with all it's settings in place runs without installation when
copied from the old OS to the new OS.
To the short answer is: Yes Money will and does run as before under
Win7.

I installed Money from an ISO I have of the CD version.
By "is already fully updated," I meant-- when I originally purchased Money
2007 Deluxe, I bought the downloadable version. When the whole announcement
of Money being discontinued came out, I threw a fit with Microsoft about, in
the future, not being able to reinstall (due to no more activations) or even
possibly updating (due to possibly Money's updates being taken off of the
servers). As a result, they sent me an ISO of Money 2007 Deluxe, which does
NOT require activation, as well as already being fully updated.

I did a clean install of Win 7 & a new install of Money from the file bought
on line about 6 months ago. Had no problems whatsoever. However, I did run
the windows wizard on XP that saves your account settings & it really saved
time & trouble for any Microsoft programs that were being reinstalled.
First thing you do after you've installed Win 7 is run the file that you
saved with all of those settings. Then install programs as needed.

and "upgrade" to that. Anyone else get an activated updated copy of Money
2007 from MS to replace their store-bought CD or downloaded version? If not,
I still don't know what will happen if I try to reinstall my store-bought CD
on a clean (non-upgrade, as I am moving 32-bit to 64-bit) Win 7 install, but
seeing the posts with various reinstall problems folks are having, I am not
hopeful.

PID is serial number from Help->About.

already installed. Money prompted me to download and install the M07
update at the end of the install (from retail CD), as it should. And it
restored my Money data file backup with no problems. M07 looks to be
working the same as it did on my old Win XP computer. I did an online
update from my credit card account just to make sure that still works.

problems. I have NOT been using compatability mode. However, I also have
UAC turned off, so maybe that's why I'm not seeing any warning screens.
