The next time you open Money Plus, expect a pop-up regarding an
update. It will say it is closing Money, but you may have to deal
with the backup popups if you have Money set up that way. Wait a
minute or two. Reopen Money.

Those who removed spending and performance modules from the home
page due to very slow performance should be able to add those back
with reasonable performance.

There are some other improvements less obvious to those who already
had things working.

You may have to reboot Windows.

I had to RunAsAdministrator once to succeed. After successful
update, the Help->About version changes from 17.0.*.727 to
17.0.*.1415.

I added mine back in (3 metrics) and it there is def a performance
increase. What used to be around 30 seconds felt around 10 now.
Livable but not great for a quad core 3.0GHZ with 2GB RAM.

I'm getting a 'you must be connected to the internet' message when attempting to authenticate with a Live ID. No problem if firewall is down. Added "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Money Plus\MNYCoreFiles\msmoney.exe" to firewall, (WLOC) which now lists it as .1414.

Did run it as admin (in Vista) once. Haven't rebooted yet. Will try that.

This fix didn't help on my machine (Money Plus, W2K3 server, 2x2.8GHz) It
took 30 seconds to load my transactions and ~50 seconds to display cash flow
on startup. The time to load history didn't change when I removed cash flow
from home page, though the home page loaded very quickly :) -- data is 7
years of history (~10 accounts x 100-1000 transactions per account). The data
was converted from Money 2007. Home page load used to take ~10 seconds.

Reboot resolved this problem.

I have Vista 64. I was prompted to update in admin mode. I restarted
in admin mode but it did not like my file. It wanted to repair it,
choose another, create new, etc. I cancelled and reopened in non-admin
mode. This time it liked the file.

I again restarted in admin and when prompted to choose another file, I
used an old test file which it loaded ok and then ran the update.
After it finished, I restarted money in non-admin and it immediately
crashed. I tried admin mode and it also crashed (Microsoft Money has
Stopped Working).

Reboot did not help. I went into DEP and removed the msmoney and money
background entries. I went to re-add them from the new folder but it
said I could not add the exe's to the DEP-bypass list since DEP was
required for these exe's.

Does anyone have any solution to this?

Thanks,
Gary Davis

It may have updated a module that was in memory as a result of Money having started in the first place. Perhaps it couldn't replace that until released from memory by a restart.

I noticed the file MnyUpdate.log file appears to be updated/created today when
I got the MP update. I don't know if it existed before.

I'll be happy if it fixes the hanging on 'paying a scheduled CC bill upon
completion of balancing a CC account' that I experience. Have been putting
off the nuke the bills and reenter hoping a fix like this will come out.

Is there an official list from MS of the issues addressed in this update? I
might remember this incorrectly, but I thought MS does not always list the
actual issues addressed with the updates they push out for various versions of
Money?

Adding Money to the DEP exception list is no longer required once you get
the update for Money Plus
I would first confirm that Money Plus did update to the 17.x.xxx.1415
version in Help - About Microsoft Money.
If not (or you can't get in) then try opening up the sample.mny file and try
updating via Sample.
Once the update has completed, then try opening up your file (ensuring that
it is in a location with full access, as Cal mentioned).

The update was supposed to help improve performance issues with respect to
the spending modules.
The cash flow module is a different thing. It has many links into Bills.
So, to help with that you may want to consider the Remove All Bills Data
"Nuke the bills" Repair option.
Be sure to review all of the warnings as well as the suggestions that Dick
has posted.

Thanks,
Mark

My mny file is on a network share. I copied it to my local documents
folder and double clicked it to open it in the updated MSMoney but it
still immediately crashed. I tried to double-click the sample.mny file
and it also crashed.

Unhandled exception at 0x0350412d in msmoney.exe: 0xC0000096:
Privileged instruction.

The version of the MSMoney.exe file is 17.00.1414 (in properties), not
1415 as you listed.

Properties also showed it was using WinXP compatability mode so I
unchecked that and tried again.

It worked on the sample and also on my networked mny file.

Help->About showed version 1415.

All is well again:)

I wish MS had said something about a reboot after this upgrade. My online
stuff would not work and I thought for awhile something became corrupted.
Fortunately, I came to this group before panic and rebooted my computer. Now
online works fine. They should just put an instruction in that thing to
reboot after you are done.

When I opened Money this evening, and it performed the update, there was
such a message. It said something like, "Installation completed
successfully. If you have problems signing in to Money, restart your
computer." I didn't have to.

I may have found the answer to my question. Today my Money 'home page' has
the message 'Service pack available for Money Plus', clicking the link takes
you to this MS KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927811/en-us#

Although explicitly not listed, it appears to have corrected the issue I was
having with Money Plus hanging when entering a bill payment upon completion of
balancing a CC account.
