MS Money Plus Deluxe incomplete download? but no error messages

download directions, received no error messages in the process, have had no
difficulties opening the program, but whenever I do open up the program, it
appears as though there are display areas that are ghosted out or missing.
One example is that the dropdown menu in the upper right corner for
"download updates" is nothing more than a grey box. If I wasn't so
accustomed to the Money'06 (or was it '05?) version that I had been using, I
wouldn't know what this grey box was for. The header bar is white, and the
back arrow in the upper right corner is also just a grey box until you scroll
your mouse over it, then a smaller box pops up with the words "Back to MY
Money" appears along with a small drop down arrow. The "Forward button" to
the right of the "Back button" also appears as a grey box without any
labeling unless you scroll over it.
Another concern is that the home page looks incomplete/relatively colorless
compared to my old version, so either the overall design is poor/incomplete
(not likely), or maybe I had an issues during the download?
Any suggestions? No I have not tried re-downloading my order because I
wasn't sure whether I needed to first uninstall what I downloaded the other
day (I am not a computer techie...just the keeper of our household budget).
The worst part is that I only bought the darned software so that I could
continue with the download service, otherwise I had no need to change the
software version.

I have Windows XP
The back and forward arrows are in the upper LEFT corner
My original version of Money '06 was transferred from my desktop computer to
my latptop last Christmas, yes I still had the CD's, no I don't recall if I
had any issues with the transfer.
Overall, the images of the buttons appear almost like a website that has had
difficulty downloading (therefore my term "ghosted").
Hope these additional thoughts help!

Some ideas:
1. If the left arrow says "Back to My Money", perhaps you're not
looking at the Microsoft Money Plus home page, but the MSN Money home
page. Which browser are you using? Could it be blocking parts of the
display? Try changing Tools / Settings / Browser Settings.
2. Does http://moneycentral.msn.com/home.asp display normally when
you bring it up from your browser instead of from within Money through
the MSN Money News link?

improve it you set it to "My Money" and restart Money Plus?

I think I found the answer. In C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money Plus
\readme.html, Item 8 says:

8: Internet Options May Cause Money Areas to Wash Out
If you modify your Internet Explorer Multimedia settings and clear the
Show Pictures check box, several places in Money may appear "washed
out" and the text may be unreadable. Follow these steps to resolve the
problem:
1. On the Tools menu, click Connection Settings.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Scroll down until you see the Multimedia section.
4. Check the Show pictures box.

The following security settings are recommended when making Internet
connections in Money.
On the Tools menu in Money, click Settings, and then click Browser
settings.
Click Connection Settings.
On the Security tab, select the Internet zone (globe icon)
In the Security level for this zone area, click Default Level, and
then move the slider to Medium (most secure).
Note: Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 or later is required to run Money, but
Money still allows you to use your default browser.
