Hi,
I have installed SQL 2008 on a 64-bit machine, but the MOM 2005 agent is
32-bit.
So, it is not able to access the registry key to discover SQL 2008
installation.

Is there any way in which the problem can be addressed?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Mohini,

There is no 64 agent for MOM 2005, but I think you can install the X32 version
of the agent. But I know there was some performance counters issues with
2003 X64, but the X32 agent was working except that.

Hi Anders,

I have also installed the 32-bit MOM agent.
The problem is the SQL 2008 installation is not being detected by the MOM
server.
That may be because the 32-bit MOM agent does not have access to the
registry key to determine if SQL is installed on that machine (as I have
installed 64-bit SQL).

So, I manually created the registry key and then everything worked fine.
Is there any better way of solving this problem?

Thanks!

Hi Mohini,

I think you found a working solution. In ops Mgr there can be a couple of
issues when mixing X64 and X32, the best solution for that is to try to plan
and design not to mix X64 and X32.
