Is there a way to use the update catalog to help build a local update server?
I have 7 computers at home, and would rather download an update once over a
DSL connection, instead of having to download each file 7 times (once for
each computer).

If there is a way, does anyone know how to setup a Windows Update server at
home without setting up WSUS? I don't have a domain, and would prefer to not
have to build another computer, pay for licenses, and all that fun stuff just
to get updates.

You could setup a web proxy, like Squid. They even have a special section
in their wiki for how to cache Windows updates.
