Laser or inkjet? You ought to get 10,000 pages out of a laser toner
cartridge. 3,300 is reasonable for an inkjet cartridge.

The problem with predictions like that is that everyone's usage is
different. If you print lots of very intense, dark images, you'll chew
through cartridges pretty quickly. If you print sparse text, you'll get
many pages. If you only print one word per page, you'll get a LOT of pages
out of each cartridge.

In my not so humble opinion, it's hard to go wrong with either HP or Epson.
I prefer HP for both laser and inkjet, but I've had good luck with Epson,
too. We purchased one of the HP OfficeJet combination
printer/scanner/copier thingies for our house, and we are deleriously happy
with it. It was one of the best big purchases we ever made.
