Actual territories can only be created using zipcodes/etc shapes defined
in MapPoint's own database.
I find territories a bit limiting due to this - often a user wishes to
split a zipcode (or whatever) between territories.
With custom programming you could draw rectangle shapes with coords from
a database. Note that the shapes would not behave as a part of
MapPoint's territory functionality, but you might be able to use the
shapes in a manner that is useful?
Yes we can be hired to do this. We also have a product called
MPSuperShape ( http://www.mpsupershape.com ) which can be used to import
shapes from a number of formats. You could create your rectangles in KML
(with the required colors), and import them into MapPoint as shapes
using this tool.
