Virtual pc for mac

downloaded the version 7, its then said i could not install it, and
needed 6.1 this said the same, and there is no option on teh download
microsoft site, for the original version

i can get it, or if im installing it in the correct way, which i
believe i am.

Right, you must purchase Virtual PC, it is not a free product. The
updates on Microsoft's website are updates, not the full version.

VPC......not for Parallels

Calm down. It's only one message telling the original person that
Parallels works well on Intel Macs. Geez. :o\

I am calm. It's just that I noticed him pushing Parallels in another
thread, not just this one. And this ng should not be used to promote a
competitor's product, IMHO.

I am returning to Mac after 5 happy years wth windows
I considered VP then to run my own choice of killer Apps
like dragon naturally Speaking
who did not suppport VPC
so why have an imitaion of a Windows PC when you can use a real one
so i got a state of the art Sony laptop instead of a Mac
afte 5 years its screen has gone and I think technology has moved on
as soon as got this PowerBook Pro I experimented with RDC which worked
once and failed
now my choice of my very own killer apps has changed with my life style
so I want to run Family Tree maker 2006 on WinXP
by luck I heard of parallels and downloaded a copy at the introductory price
so I am continuing to buy MS products and will steadily update the MS
half of my PowerBook Pro
if you want a beta tester for the next VPC I am a volunteer age 70
and was beat testing the next MS Office on my old machine
as well as AOL UK stuff
If this product is going to continue to be viable you have to beat
parallels at whatever tests the user magazines dream up
I am reading this group because I have to catch up with where the mac
world is going next - obviously hand in hand with MS as always

now the dual core chips are here
MS has the know how to make VPC much much better
using Intel VT-x support
as a large firm you have problems with overheads like any other business
not to mention office politics

I really don't know why you are venting at me. I do not work for
Microsoft. Perhaps you should redirect your anger and comments their
way.
My comments are simple and I will expound on them:
Microsoft provides this newsgroup so that people who are using VPC can
network and help each other. It is not intended as a billboard for
competitor products. The fact that you are using Parallels and that you
are happy with that product is great......for you. Maybe you should
start your own newsgroup so that you can laud Parallels.....whatever.
My concern is THIS newsgroup ..... and the fact that Microsoft can
'pull the plug' if too many people peddle the virtues of competitor
products. I know that I would certainly consider it.

There's nothing wrong with telling people about Parallels. Besides
which, PowerPC Mac owners can't run Parallels and Intel Mac owners
can't run Virtual PC, so there is no "competitor's product". It's a
very simple equation:
PowerPC Mac = Virtual PC
Intel Mac = Parallels Desktop
or Boot Camp or WINE or ...

right up front if someone has asked this question but.....I downloaded
Bootcamp but it indicates I need XP and SP2 on one disk. I have XP and SP2
upgrade but not on the same disk.....am I missing something???

you can make a "slipstreamed XP SP2" cd. You cannot apply SP2 to your XP
following installation under bootcamp.
Download AutoStreamer from:

and use the Network version of SP2 for the slipstreaming:

Do not use the single-user version for slipstreaming.
For convenience use your desktop for the work area. Burn the resulting .iso
file to cd using "burn image to disc." It will already be a bootable image.

so i installed an MS WinXP home edition and it worked and after AVG ante
virus instalation I got all the updates
I read a review and got the introductory offer on paralleæls
