Cannot successful install Office for Mac 2008 after trial version

I am a new Mac user (and having a really hard time so far) so please be specific. I come from PC world so it's all new to me.

I cannot seem to successful uninstall the trial version. I am trying to install the actual version, but it says "Microsoft did not successfully install." Can someone give me step-by-step instructions on how to properly uninstall? And when I load the DVD, it gives me a product number, but does not ask for one. Is this correct?

See the end of this article for how to remove trial. You'll need to
re-install your retail version of Office.

Steps to re-install Office (important to restart between each update!!)

If everything is not removed, Office remembers the CD key. Can be a good
thing when reinstalling.

Let me know if you still need help. BTW, the best place to get general
Office help is the Office forum not the "otherproducts". Each application
has it's own forum too, but the Office is a good place for general help like
installing.
