But if the XP Office retains cross-platform compatibility, should not you be
able save the document in Mac Office?
Gene van Troyer
You didn't say what version of Office you are using on the Mac. If you are
using Office 2001 or earlier the following information may not apply.
This is a quote from the ReadMe for Office X:
6.2 Associating Downloaded Clips with Clip Gallery
If you install Office in a folder other than the Applications folder, files
that you download from Design Gallery Live might not automatically open in
Microsoft Clip Gallery. To fix this problem, you can associate downloaded
clips (.cil files) with Clip Gallery in the Finder. Before you start the
following steps, download a clip from Design Gallery Live ( Insert menu,
Picture submenu, Clip Art command, Online button).
Associate Downloaded Clips
1. Use the Finder to locate and select the downloaded clip.
2. In the Finder, click Show Info on the File menu.
3. In the File Name Info window, click Open with application on the pop-up
menu below the file name.
4. Click the button below the pop-up menu, and then click Other on the list
that appears.
5. Find and select the Microsoft Clip Gallery program in the Microsoft
Office X/Office folder.
6. Click Add.
7. Close the File Name Info window.

I've got a few tidbits that might be relevant. First, I'll paste in a copy
of an earlier thread followed by the FAQ topic from help file at the dgl web

Optimize Your Browser for Downloading Clips on a Macintosh Computer
Try the following: Clips on Design Gallery Live are designed to be
downloaded and installed in the Clip Gallery program on your computer. If
you installed Internet Explorer before installing Microsoft Office 2001, the
appropriate Clip Gallery information is registered in Internet Explorer
preferences. When you download a clip from Design Gallery Live, the clip
will be added automatically to the Favorites category in Clip Gallery.
If you installed Internet Explorer after installing Office 2001, your
browser will display a message asking if you want save the selected file to
disk, or if you want to configure a helper application for this file. From
this message you can set Internet Explorer to open Design Gallery Lives
files automatically.
To set Internet Explorer to open Design Gallery Live files automatically
1. On the message that asks whether you want to configure a helper
application, click the Application button.
2. In the Open dialog box, click Microsoft Office 2001, click Office, click
Microsoft Clip Gallery, and then click Open.
The clip will be added to the Favorites category in Clip Gallery.
Note If you delete your preferences or install a new browser, you must
configure Internet Explorer to open Design Gallery Live files automatically
again.
