Is it possible to convert Word endnote superscript reference numbers
to square bracketed [3] reference numbers? When you delete the
superscript endnote number, Word automatically, of course, deletes the
actual reference at the end of the document.

Consequently, I'm looking for a way to either convert the superscript
reference numbers to square brackets, or to freeze the references as
they are, then delete the superscripts and replace them with brackets.
Any suggestions or advice would be welcome. Thanks.

Hi Kelly:

Ummm.... "Anything" is possible, but you would have to write a piece of VBA
to do it.

The numbers can't be "converted" because they're a specific field type.

What you can do is find them and insert square brackets around them. Then
do the same in the EndNotes section.

It's a bit of work: how bad do you want it?

Cheers

The problem with this method is that it does not convert the superscript to regular script
