In a template is it possible to have text and/or objects that is non-printable?

With no more detail than you provided the only suggestions I can offer are
that you check out Format> Font - Hidden for any text or InLine images. Use
Command+8 to toggle non-printing characters in order to view/hide the
content. Images/objects with text wrapping can be excluded from printing
through Preferences, but not on an individual basis - it's all or nothing.

Hello. I've been tasked with creating label templates like the ones that Avery or Onlinelabels.com uses. More specifically, when you open one of their templates, there are autoshapes that appear in the document but they don't print. If I copy and paste an autoshape from their templates into mine, it works...meaning it shows in the document while you're working on it but it doesn't show in print preview or when it's actually printed. Does anyone know how to accomplish this little magic trick?!? Thanks!!

Perhaps the shapes are in the Word header? Even though it's called a
header, you can put things in it that go further down the page. For
example, it's the way you'd make a watermark.

Hi Patty,

I've tried that, didn't seem to work? I am thinking that it's not in the header because if I copy and paste the object from their doc to mine, and paste it anywhere, it still 'works', as in it doesn't show up in print preview and doesn't print, but clearly shows up on the page as a guide. :-/

And that doesn't solve your problem? Or are you saying that you want
to do the same thing but with your own objects, not ones from an
existing document?

Best I can suggest is that you look at all the settings for the objects
and for printing and see whether something jumps out at you as an
explanation. You could also try googling. I just found a discussion on
the MS site that at first I thought would help you, but then it turned
out that the person had a note for people to delete the template layer
before printing, so that isn't what you're after. Still, there might
be another trick floating around that would do what you need.

Hi there, did you find a solution? I have been tasked with the same job as you. I have been using tables, which is ok for rectangular labels but for circles and oval you really need to use a table and a shape? Any guidance would be much appreciated!

I've done that, but I forgot how to make it.
