Shifting footers on even/odd pages

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Power PC I'm using a footer consisting of a rule, and underneath the rule is a line of text. The rule and the text are where I want them on the odd pages, but I can't get the text where I want it to be on the even pages. It is considerably lower on the even pages than the odd pages. The "Footer from Bottom" setting is set the same on both even and odd pages (.5). I've played around, but the text on the even page footers won't budge. Any ideas?

How about some additional clarification?

By "rule" do you mean a paragraph border or some form of improvisation?

Make sure you have the non-printing characters (�) displayed & describe what
you see, such as page breaks, section breaks, etc. Does one of the paragraph
marks display below the Odd Page Footer content?

How did you "get the text" where you want it to be on the odd pages? What
are you doing in an effort to get the text adjusted on the even pages?

The .5" setting only determines how close to the edge of the paper the
Footer is allowed to print. Other factors � such as those mentioned above as
well as others � can cause it to rise higher on the page.

Thank you so much, Bob! In showing the invisible characters, there was an extra return below the text on the odd page. I duplicated that on the even page, and it matched. So problem solved. Thank you for your assistance.

I'm glad you've gotten it sorted & that solution may hold if there is no
further revision to be done in the document. However, the use of empty
paragraphs (�) for spacing control really isn't the preferred method. Their
position changes when text reflows just like any other content. Adjusting
the Footer Margin and/or modifying the Footer Style formatting attributes
will provide a higher degree of consistency, reliability & stability.
