After many hours spent to fix this appalling bug, discussing here with experts, I took the opportunity of Snow Leopard to do the following :
- erase / install SL on one machine
- erase / install Leopard only on another machine.
After that, I did NOT import any data apart some files not related with Word.
I thought it solved the problem of Grammarcheck constantly crashing, and for 2 weeks it did.
Now, in a complete clean machine, the BUG is back.
Grammarcheck is impossible. Word has to close session.
Unbelievable
PS : Again, as said a 100 times, Office is up to date. 12.2.1
I'm not sure what discussions you may have had in the past, but those
conversations no longer seem to be available on the server [if you've used
the same identity for posting]. Depending on how far back they go there
could also be major differences in circumstances since that time.
If you'd care to state what the problems are & what other methods you may
have used in an attempt to resolve them I'm certain that someone will be
more than happy to help get them cleared up. The more accurate & detailed
the description, the better.

Yeah, I remember your earlier fights with this, but as Bob says, I can't see
your posts now.
It seems from user reports that there may be a problem with Spelling and
Grammar corruptions in Word 2008 that only shows up in languages other than
English. But we do not yet have enough information to enable Microsoft to
find the bugs and fix them.
Sorry.

No mention of you doing the one thing that would probably have fixed it :-)
Open Word, open your Custom dictionary, make a single-letter change (ad and
remove a letter, to mark the document as "unsaved") then Save.
Then turn your Spelling back on, and it should work.
The issue appears to be that during an upgrade to Snow Leopard, the custom
dictionary gets written into the wrong encoding, as a result of which, Word
can't read it, and crashes when it attempts spelling.
Try that: If it doesn't work, come back and we'll talk you through the rest
of it. A large proportion of these are caused by simply re-saving the
custom dictionary: the rest of the procedure is a bit of a chore.
Cheers
