Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I am new to using tracking changes and need some basic help here. I have Word for Mac 2008, V. 12.2.3, and Mac OS 10.5.8. I am working on a book with a co-author who has tracked changes for me. After approving her changes and clicking on final in the toolbox I cannot save the final without all of the mark-ups. I have searched the forum and found similar discussions, however, I can't figure out something quite basic-how do I TURN OFF track changes that everyone keeps talking about. Please be specific in your answers as I am a newbie.BTW I have tried clicking the "track changes" box in the toolbox so it is highlighted on and off and still no saving of the final documents! Can anyone help please? Thanks.

You're right, Help in Office 2008 is absolutely abominable, but Track
Changes can be turned of in at least 2 ways;

1- Click the round TRK button at the bottom of the window, or

2- Click the Track Changes button on the Reviewing Toolbar,

But that doesn't seem to be what you're having a problem with :-)...

The Reviewing toolbar also provides buttons to Accept/Reject the changes
once the tracking is turned off. Alternatively, you can use Tools> Track
Changes> Accept or Reject Changes... to do so. This must be done to remove
the markup - none of the choices in the 'Display for Review' list on the
Reviewing Toolbar remove the markup or the changes tracked.
