This is really strange but for some reason in a few paragraphs of a short letter I am writing when I press the space bar to move a word 1 space it ends up moving the word like 10 spaces. When I hit the Delete button to move it back it goes 10 spaces back, right next to the word on the left. I'm trying to get it one space to the right (like in this paragraph). Why is the Space Bar and Delete bar moving the words so far?

thanks!

You have set your paragraph justification to "Justified".

When you do that, Word will alter the width of your spaces to make the left
and right margins line up.

Change the Paragraph formatting of the style you are using to "Left" and it
will be have far more predictably.

See the help topic " Align or justify text"

Cheers

Unless you also turn on automatic Hyphenation.

Then the word letter spacing becomes correct but some words will be
Hyphenated.
