I'm having major problems with cross platform compatibility in
document with complex tables. I read John McGhie posting "NEVER use
"Floating" graphics or tables" but I can't figure out how to reformat
tables to "In line with text". Please help.

Hi Allan,

I see your problem. Try this: Click into the table, go to the Table menu
and select Table Properties. On the Table tab, under Text Wrapping, select
None. If that's not it then I'm sure John will be along in a minute to
straighten us both out :-).

Hi Allan,

How do you know your tables are floating in the first place? Exactly what
are they doing that's causing you problems?

Also, please (always!) state your OS and Word version numbers.

In Table Properties, in the Table tab, click on the Positioning button, and then ensure that "Move with text" is ticked (checked).
This works for me in Windows 7 using Word 2013.
