Help! All of a sudden, the Word files I'm attaching to emails are corrupt. People I'm emailing tell me they can't open my files, or when they do, they are corrupt and contain gibberish. It's not happening with every email or file I send, but is occurring more frequently every day. I haven't had this problem before and am wondering what's going on. Any advice on how to fix this?
Thanks very much!
Two suggestions:
1- Send a zipped copy of the file, and
2- Try to get the recipient's in WinWorld to understand that they should not
be double-clicking attachments in email messages in the first place - what
they are opening is *not* the file... It's an unreasonable facsimile
thereof. If they dowload the file to disk first they'll be better off:-)
Another point - if they don't need to be able to edit/revise the file send
them a PDF copy instead.

If they do not install it correctly, they get this problem.
There is nothing you can do about it, other than to tell them to save the
file to their desktop, then use File>Open from within Word. But they should
really tell their System Administrator to fix it.
YOU will save yourself a LOT of time by simply not telling them that the
file comes from a Mac. If you tell them, they race off and do all sorts of
strange things that make the problem worse. If you simply say "It opens OK
here, there must be a problem at your end" then they will actually look for
the problem, find it, and fix it :-)
Make sure you are encoding the file in MIME when you attach it. Windows is
a bit flaky about handling AppleDouble. It shouldn't be, but it is...
Cheers

Hi,
There is a tool called Advanced Word Repair. I have used it to repair
many corrupt Word documents on my damaged disks successfully. Its
homepage is http://www.datanumen.com/awr/

There's nothing we can do to keep you from hawking your product in the
newsgroups but please show enough integrity to promote it in the *right*
groups for the *right* purposes. As noted in response to your previous ads
you're wasting your time here - your product is *not* Mac-compatible &
you're deluding yourself if you think Mac users are going to buy it for
their PC-bound correspondents... and *don't* try to disguise yourself as a
"satisfied user".

Hello
I am having the same problem and it's happening with excel files and
pdfs. too - any advice
Nick
Not to be a smart___, but first review the rest of the articles in this
thread as well as a search of the forum. If you are having the *same*
problem it should be addressed by one of the *same* solutions.
Otherwise your problem must be *different* in some way so submit a new
posting with a complete description of what you've tried, what happened as a
result, as well as complete version information & other particulars.
