That file will be complete up to the time you last manually saved.
Other than that, without specialised software and knowledge, then no, there
is no way to get the audio back.
Word freezes because of bugs in the software. Make sure you have applied
the very latest updates from both Apple and Microsoft, particularly if you
are running on OS 10.6.
Then it will freeze less often.

The most important thing is to avoid "copying" a document that contains
audio.
Create a new blank document for each session, record it, save it, and close
it. Then don't try to add to it again: it will be "safer".
But really: Word is not the place to do your audio recordings: use your Mac
to record audio files natively with Garage Band (if you have it) or Audio
Hijack or some other freeware utility.
