We have been working on a typical word file, 25 pages long, Palatino font, a
few different colors, 12 pt. body, 16 pt. heads, inserted logos, justified
left and right. When we open the same file on different machines the
pagination changes, i.e., a page on computer one starts on the headline, the
same page on computer two starts three lines before the headline, and the
same page on computer three starts five lines before the headline. We are
closing the file and using the same file off the server.

Why? The margins are set the same on each machine.

The only thing different is we are using two different printers, i.e., an
Epson Stylus 800 and an Epson Stylus 800 N.

Any ideas why the difference?

Hi Ricci,

It sounds like you did most of the work needed to provide a definitive
answer to your question. If you switch the printers and choose the new
default printer for each machine, you'll most likely discover that the
printers have different capabilities.

Word checks with the printer driver of the default printer and formats
documents according to the printer's capabilities. If your document is too
big, Word reformats it to fit the printer's capabilities.
