How can I turn off "align to Grid" (used to be called snap to grid)?

Almost a year later...
Add the "Snap to Grid" tool button to a toolbar. You can then toggle it off (or on).
For those unfamiliar with the new arrangement of menu options: View menu/Customize Toolbars and Menus/Commands/Drawing [Category]/Snap to Grid [Command].
