From the Insert menu choose Header and Footer. That's where you can set the
page numbers to show.

Add a textbox...click in the text box
Insert menu > Slide Number
Then adjust the font/size/color/alignment/position/etc

Slide numbers are a bit flakey for me but they do work, sort of. Create a text
box on a slide. Go to insert > Slide number and say OK to insert the slide
number.
Then copy the box, and run through the slides pasting as you go along.
It's not very smart but at least once it's done it will keep track of any
rearranging you do.
The header/footer option is really weird and I can't seem to make snes of it..
Not Mac-like at all.

John, you might want to read Mr. Simmons' post again. The "slide number" is
not a specific number, but rather a dynamic field that will change for every
slide. AND, you only have to insert it once on the MASTER slide for it to
show up correctly on every slide.

I hope that soon Keynote will come out with the ability to move around
between random slides by inputing the slide# the way that PowerPoint does.
I love the graphics and simplicity in Keynote, but this feature is a must for
projecting a song service.
