Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I don't think any version of PowerPoint Mac has had this, but in many versions on the PC, if you wanted to override the animation set up in the slide master, you could go to your Custom Animation area, copy the animation from the master to the slide (an available command) and then tweak the animation for that slide only. This is very useful if you want to have a picture come up, say between bullets 4 and 5. Does anyone know whether something like this exists in the Mac version? I'm using 2008.

Hi,

The formatting on the master slide can be overridden by changing either
an individual slide, or by changing a slide design *after* you are
finished formatting the master slide.

I'm not sure about the order in which you did the formatting. From what
you are saying you started a slide that has an animation, changed the
animation on the master slide, and then changed the animation on an
individual slide, but then you want to copy the format from the Master
slide back? I'm confused. Sorry.

Hey Jim, No, it's not nearly that complicated. What happens is that I create or modify a master layout to include animation for the title and bullet text. Then I create the slides. Along comes a slide where I'd like to change the animation of the bullet text so that a picture comes in between bullets 2 and 3 and I'd like bullet 3 to come in via mouse-click rather than on its own. The only way I've been able to do this is copy the text blocks, paste them into a blank slide (based on a blank master), then rebuild the animation to do what I want. On the Windows version you can simply tell it to copy the master animation to the slide, then change it. Does this make it easier to understand? Thanks! Jon

Hi Joe,

I can't vouch for the way it works in Windows, but on Mac PowerPoint the
master slide really is a master. If you put a custom animation onto the
Master Slide's content box, then it cascades through the presentation
and all of the sub masters of that particular master.

A way around this problem would be to have two masters. Add a master
that's formatted the same except that it has no custom animation on the
content box.
