In PowerPoint versions up to 2001, this is done by clicking once on the
PowerPoint icon in the Finder, then going to Apple -> Get Info -> Memory.
Set the Preferred size to 25000 K or more. This isn't necessary in
PowerPoint X because memory is allocated dynamically, so as an application
needs more memory, it gets it.

Actually, as Powerpoint needs more, it SHOULD get it, but doesn't. It just
starts redrawing at unacceptably slow speeds and starts putting red X's
where your images would have been had MS' coders taken the time to develop a
market ready version of PPT.

As someone with 1G of RAM that is still running PPT 2001 in classic mode
because PPT X refuses to pull enough memory to properly run even the
smallest of my old shows (UNIX 'top' command shows PPT pulling only 250M or
so), I can assure you that if your show has lots of nice imagery, no amount
of available RAM will solve the problem.

MS has refused to acknowledge the issue publicly, but if you get high enough
in the call center food chain, they do admit to knowledge of the issue, and
that there's no known workaround. Sort of like all of the alpha channel
images that no longer display in PPT X despite being written and run for
years on PPT 2001, but then I digress...
