At the moment there is no cure for the problem. Microsoft knows about.
Be sure to turn on a schedule in the Downloads and Updates section of
the Help menu so that in case a new update becomes available you will
know right away.

I tried to copy some equations made on my Mac by LaTeX Equation Editor
from a Keynote presentation (v1), which are pdfs, and the same thing
happened. So it's not just a Windows-to-Mac problem.

Can you try going to System Preferences > Appearance > Font smoothing style
and changing the style to "Standard"? If PowerPoint is already running,
quit and restart PowerPoint.
Please reply back as to whether this helps for you. If it does, I'd be
curious to know what the setting was previously.
