Version: 2008 Hi -

I have an excel file open on my mac and i can't close it - I can't save it - I can do anything with it - all the functions on the tool bar have adopted ghost functionality. I've tried to open the file again and this message appears:

'A dialog or alert is currently open. close the dialog or alert and open the file again.'

I can't close the file though -

Any thoughts? Thanks for your help.

Cian

Is there anything else in the Window menu? Can you drag the window
partly off the screen to see what may be behind it?

Message to all:

Its a pity no one could answer the question first posed. I am in the same situation and I certainly do not wish to Force Close. I wish to File Close so all of my contents are not destroyed.

It would be useful if you really have no idea, to not respond. This is not a facebooks site.

Thanks.

Hit the Command, Control keys simultaneously, and then hit Escape. It will take you to a "force quit" box and show you what is open.
