Switch off hyperlinks?

I'm working in Excel v.X for Mac OS X. I am entering e-mail address
information that I do not want to have hyperlinked. I just want plain-text.
However, Excel insists on making it hyperlinked unless I go in to each cell
one at a time and remove them manually.

Word has an option under auto-correct that lets me switch off the automatic
hyperlinking of URLs and e-mail addresses. Excel doesn't seem to.
Am I missing something or is that an actual limitation of Excel?
