Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Setlangcode!b28 in Excel.

I have just upgraded to 10.6.2 (SL) and work on Office 2004.

In excel I am trying to set a different language and am getting:

Macro error at cell:
[Set Language] Setlangcode!b28

If I try to fix it, it claims the dictionary is not installed in the 'Proofing Tools Folder' however it is and always was. Needles to say it worked fine under 10.5.

Anybody knows how to fix this? Thanks

Maybe, but I don’t have the slightest clue about what you are asking.

Hi Bob

Sorry for not responding earlier, but somehow this forum robot never ever sends me a email if someone posts. So I need to check manually and since I was on the road..

I try to explain better. In Excel 2004 under 10.6 I am no longer able to set the languages (I was able to do so under 10.5) if I try to do so under 10.6 and I get an error message namely:

Setlangcode!b28 in Excel

If I try to fix it, it claims the dictionary is not installed in the 'Proofing Tools Folder' however it is and always was. Needles to say again it worked fine under 10.5.

Helps? Hope you or someone can help me fix this.

I am sorry, but I still do not understand. Setlangcode!b28 is a reference to a cell (B28) on the worksheet Setlangcode. I do not see  this a command in VB for Excel 204. Please try to explain in more detail what you are trying to do.

OK I try again.

Have a Excel sheet, it is in a language other than UK englisch.

I try to change the dictionary to do a spell-check, in 'Tools > Language'.

Doing this brings up the box with the message: [Set Language]Setlangcode!b28 see image here: http://drop.io/0vhss5m

Leading to this if I click above box: http://drop.io/0vhss5m2089#

Clearer?

The dialog box showing "Macro error at cell: [Set Language]SetLangCode!B39"
is typical for a workbook named "Set Language" with an Excel 4.0 Macro
worksheet named SetLangCode that has an error when trying to execute the
formula (written in the Excel 4.0 XLM macro programming language) in cell
B39.

But I don't know if my observation is at all relevant to your situation.

 Hi Mike,

thanks, I figured that, but I am not doing anything in a cell. so from that point it is a weird message.

The real problem is; why can I no longer change the language in my Excel sheets! Is there anybody who has a clue?

I know for example that sometimes Word flips out and if I than remove some files from the user system folder it works again. would that be the case here? any thoughts?

There is no telling what might be the problem without seeing the macro code. Whoever wrote the macro did not allow for certain conditions. The fact that you get a macro error indicates that the macro itself is in error. And, unless we see the macro code it I snot possible to have any idea what might be the problem.

Bob, if it is a Micro it is bud in to Excel as it is part of the original Application.

I am happy to copy paste it here if you tell me where to find it.

I don’t know anything about the application. It seems like an XLM macro on a hidden sheet. It is just not possible to solve your problem this way. You will have to retain someone with macro knowledge (or find the macro’s author) to debug your problem.

Bob sorry not willing to pay to solve this as I believe it is a programme fault not like you think a micr fault.

I agree that it is an Excel bug.

I mentioned in my message of this thread on Jan 30 that you are getting an
error in cell B28 of macro sheet SetLangCode in workbook Set Language. The
error occurs when you choose Tools > Language in Excel 2004 and attempt to
change the language used for spelling checks. For example, if I select
English (US) and click OK, the macro error is in cell B39.

On my system with Excel 2004 version 11.5.6, the Set Language workbook is
located in the Applications / Microsoft Office 2004 / Office / Add-Ins
folder. I don't know of any way to look at the code in that workbook.
