My Excel for mac OS X crashes whenever I select a fill color or try to
change fill colors. It even crashes when I try to remove the fill
color button from the tool bar using the "customize" menu. Any odeas
as to hwo to cure this bug?

Hi RL-

Which version of Excel, OSX? Are any messages coming up when this
happens? Does it happen EVERY time, most times, some times?

Have you tried using Disk Utility to Repair Permissions? This may not
help, but it isn't a bad first step.

The fill color issue and the customize issue are 2 separate matters,
which suggests that it isn't a "bug". Instead it suggests that the
program is having trouble accessing certain files. Did you by any
chance have a "test drive" ver. installed which wasn't removed before
you installed the live ver.?

Try the Repair Permissions & post back with more detail if that doesn't

I run OS 10.3.7 and Excel for Office X. This happens EVERY TIME and
only when I click on the icon in the tool bar (either when trying to
remove it or trying to use it). I do repair permissions every month or
so but the problem doesn't go away.

Hey, thanks so much. Adivse worked. Removed preferences and problem
cleared up. HAven't had to remove preferences since running OS 6 or 7
way back when! I guess what's old is new.
