I am having a problem where my expectations may not be a reality. I have moved from Outlook to Entourage 2004 and now to 2008. I can't say that I have noticed this in 2004, but won't rule it out. I am expecting that the Sent items in Entourage are sync'd with the Exchange server. I use more than 1 email client in the course of a day and/or week. It could be the Blackberry, OWA or Outlook 2003 as well as Entourage depending on my location and machine access at any given time. From what I can tell, the Sent items in Entourage reflect only what was sent from Entourage and no other client. In looking at Outlook Sent Items, it shows ALL mail moved from any of the clients though. Also, items sent from Entourage do not show on my Blackberry, where items sent from Outlook do.

Am I missing something? If this is not a feature of Entourage, I will be very disappointed and may need to leave the Project Centre that I have come to like so I can ensure that I have all of my email accessible when I need it, from where I need it. Please tell me I don't have to go back !!

Sent Items should sync fully.

If I understand you correctly, Entourage is not syncing Sent Items
*down* from the server but it is syncing its own Sent Items *up* to the
server. Correct?

Entourage should reflect what you see in Outlook Web Access (OWA). If
you take the Exchange Server address currently in Entourage and plug
that into a web browser, such as Safari, then you should be able to see
your account via webmail. Does your Sent Items in webmail mirror what
you see in Entourage? If so (i.e. that Sent Items folders is incomplete
as well) then this is more likely an Exchange Server problem.

Hope this helps!

I wish I could explain this but today, the problem seems to be fixed for the most part going forward. I think what I found was a difference around the same time I upgraded from Entourage 2004 to 2008. I will try to confirm this when a spare moment arrives.

In checking back yesterday and into today, Outlook, Entourage and OWA are all reflecting the same number of sent items. The only anomaly now is with the sent items on the Blackberry. This does not match these same numbers. This I will continue to test to see if it is between the Blackberry and email sent from any particular email client.

Thanks for the quick response.

I work on a mac and a pc. At work I'm on a pc using Outlook 2007. At home, Entourage 2008. When I send items from home they do not show up in either OWA or in Outlook 2007.

Also, notated actions on messages like reply or forward are not being communicated between them.

There is definitely a sync issue.

Any advice on how I can start to debug this?

I am having the same results. If I reply to an email or send a brand new email from Entourage 2008, neither shows on my Blackberry either. This is also connected to a BB Enterprise server. The sent email does appear as a sent item in OWA and Outlook 2003 though. I am going to confirm with RIM.

I am usiing Outlok 2003 and Entourage 2008 from work and home. The default behaviour is for a copy to be kept in the sent items. I cannot find a way to overwrite this to change it in Entourage 2008. I am taking a guess on this but recall something similar with earlier versions of Entourage using the OWA server as their connection point, but this would need to be confirmed both on your settings and my recollection.

I am having the same issue where my sent items in Entourage do not synchronize with Exchange. I am the only Entourage user, and no one else in the company with Outlook 2003/2007 has this issue. They are also using offline caching like I am.

Is this a known issue in Entourage? Is there an update I should instal? I doubt there's anything wrong with Exchange!

I am experiencing the same issues, I use Entourage 2008 in the office, Outlook 2007 at home and work on the road with a Blackberry. The items that I send from Outlook do not appear in my send items in Entourage, but do appear in webmail and the sent items from my BB appear in Outlook but not Entourage. Any idea what to do?

I have the same problem. Could someone from MVP verify whether this
is a bug experienced by ALL or whether only some of us are having
problems. I have been spending an in ordinate amount of time trying
to troubleshoot what I thought was a problem specific to my setup but
if it is simply something that doesn't work then I will stop spending
time on this and stick with Outlook through Parallels rather than
trying to accommodate Entourage's peculiarities.

In summary:

Emails sent from Entourage: appear in Entourage Sent Items folder but
do not appear in Outlook Sent Items folder or Outlook Web Access
folder

Emails sent from Outlook or Outlook Web Access: appear in Sent Items
folder for Entourage, Outlook, and Outlook Web Access.

This issue renders Entourage mostly useless for those of us using more
than one computer (and guts 50% of the utility of the email portion of
Exchange server). I continue to believe this is a user specific issue
but am having a hard time verifying.

I have personally tried everything from Switching Identities, clearing
the cache, right-clicking the folder and choosing Synchronize Now,
rebuilding the database, and finally reinstalling OS X and Office 2008
to ensure that one of the updates didn't break the sync.

If anyone has the time and desire I would be happy to troubleshoot in
real-time so we can try to find an answer.

I am having the exact same problem. When I send emails using
Entourage, they don't appear on my Blackberry. When I send emails
using Webmail, they do appear as sent items on my Blackberry. Is this
a problem with Entourage, and is it fixable?

This appears to be a problem with Blackberry Server and already
acknowledged by the RIM folks. Unfortunately, it has been present since
Exchange Server 2000.

Interestingly enough, I am having a similar problem, after I send an e-mail from entourage it does not sync back to my entourage instance on my iMac. It does show up on the MSN account, if I go in from a browser. By the way, this started happening as soon as I installed the "Office for mac 2008 update" about two weeks ago. I have all sent items prior to that.

Hi Matt!

I suggest you begin a new thread for your topic. This thread is
specifically about Exchange, not MSN. Adding a "me too" to someone
else's topic when your problem is similar but not the same only confuses
matters.

You also stand a better chance of getting an answer that specifically
addresses your problem.

Good luck!

Any help would be appreciated.

Similar issue:

I use 3 devices:

Macbook - Entourage
PC - Outlook
Blackberry

Enterprise Exchange Server.

I believe after I installed Entourage (and Office 2008) on the Macbook my sent items do not post between the PC/Blackberry and the Mac. Both ways. Contacts and appointments are just fine. No issue w/ Enterpriose Exchange server sync.

It's hit and miss. Some post back to my PC and BB many do not.

Strange.
ANy suggestions?

Bill,

Your May 31 (30?) response appears to deal only with the Blackberry issue. When we are sending from Entourage the message does not show up in the Outlook folder on the PC nor does it show up in Web Outlook. When sending from Outlook or via the web, the sent message does find its way to the Sent files on Entourage. This problem exists in both the 2004 and 2008 versions - at least for some of us.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Randy!

Too many folks are jumping in on this thread with their own issues that
aren't related to either the original post, which is now expired and
unavailable to many of us, or my replies, which are specific to certain
other posters.

This is confusing.

The original question includes Blackberry. If your question doesn't then
please start a new thread. Please always start a new thread for your own
questions even if you see a thread similar to yours.

Be sure to include all your Exchange Server and Entourage versions, etc.

Thanks!

Bill,

I'm looking for your post on 5/31. See post on 5/30 (not 5/31)

I have run a few detailed tests between Outlook (MS Office 2008) and Entourage (latest Office ver for MAC) on Sync:

Sent items
Address Book
Calendar.

Here are the results:

Just ran a quick test PC – running Vista and MS Office 2008 (latest ver and updates), Mac running Leopard and MS Office for Mac 2008 (latest version,) all updates on Windows, MS Office (PC and Mac) and Leopard

Sent emails do not post either way (between Entourage and PC/Outlook)

(All emails from BB and PC transfer just fine.)

Contacts seem to post between all devices – except for 1 that did not post from entourage to PC/BB – 1 did, 1 didn't post from entourage to PC/BB

Appointments post from Entourage to PC. Appointments do not post from PC to Entourage.

Can you direct us to the latest info/fixes?

I'll modify my earlier statement. The issue originally discussed in this

Bill,

Thanks for your reply.

Just to be clear, do we have TWO issues with no known fix?

Entourage / Outlook sync via Exchange Server (see my post above - we happen to use MI8 as our Exchange SP)

and..

Blackberry RIM?

Obviously these are similar issues, but if we removed the Blackberry from the equation we'd still have the same issue I assume....??

Thanks again for your expert advise. (I'm one of the renegade partners in our firm that just converted from a PC to a MAC, so I need to keep this on the "down low!")

Hi Lou!

Sent Items not syncing to *Exchange Server* is one issue but it's
unrelated to the RIM issue.

> Blackberry RIM?

And, yes, this is a second issue (probably with a different cause from
the Sent Items syncing problem). Sent Items are syncing to the Exchange
Server (from what I understand) but not to the *Blackberry*.

The article on RIM's site is the only one I know that acknowledges this
issue but as you probably saw it's pretty old. However, I've seen
nothing since then that states they've addressed the problem.

> Obviously these are similar issues, but if we removed the Blackberry

Removing the Blackberry server does not resolve the first problem where
Sent Items in Entourage do not sync to the Exchange Server.

Bill,

Thanks,
For what it's worth I contacted our Exchance Service provider yesterday (MI8.) The fellow on the phone did a remote access check into Entourage and we ran some tests. We spent an hour on the issue and did not reslove. We opened up a trouble ticket and I now have MI8 doing the research.(Unable to see the sent items on entourage, able to see it on Outlook bilateral issue w/ Sent items using both Entourage and Outlook Enterprise Exchange Server.) This is a BIG deal for me as I use both PC at the office and Mac on the road. If they come up with something I will post. My tech guy has some ideas but I will hold of until MI8 responds.

Bill,

I have eliminated the Blackberry isue and also just migrated my Vista Deskto to an imac. I still have to rely on our corporate exchange server. I fine that "sent" items from Entourage do not post in the sent itmes folder of my new iMac, and visa versa. Have not checked calender or contacts yet.

I saw this post:
I have found the following article. If you could review and see if I need to change my account set up. I’d appreciate.

Here’s the article:

<http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/2008/03/optimize_entourage_to_better_work_with_exchange.html>
I drill down on Connecting Entourage to an Exchange Server from Home:

<http://entourage.mvps.org/exchange/exchangeathome.html>

I see that the recommended account settings include a search base string. Could this be the mising link (I don't have a search base sring in my set-up.)

If you have a few minutes I’d appreciate your review.. Thx,lou

Hi lou!

The search base string is only for Global Address List lookups and most
of the time it's not needed because the defaults work just fine. It
won't affect anything else.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one with this problem but frustrated by the problem itself. I have a Mac at my office at home and use a Mac Book when I'm out and about. Both run latest version of Entourage and sync with Exchange Server in the company's office. Items sent from either machine only appear in the sent items folder of the machine they were sent from. This makes keeping track of one's mail discussions very difficult. Any solutions would be very welcome.

I realize one solution is to move all sent items to another folder in which case they would synchronize OK but that should not be necessary!
