Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange Using Exchange Server 2007 service pack 2. Entourage has all updates (12.2.3). Office '08 was installed in a new MacPro tower with all Apple updates-Mac OS 10.6.2. No other non -Apple or non-Microsoft software was installed or running. "Not Connected" appeared in Entourage after a number of hours running with just Entourage turned on using ethernet only. Turning off DHCP and turning it back on and or rebooting was a temporary work around.
Any suggestions for a permanent fix?

How do you authenticate to your Exchange server? Are you entering your
password or are you using Kerberos to automatically authenticate you
based on your login to the Mac?

If you're using Kerberos then I suspect your ticket is expiring after
about 10 hours. This is expected behavior.

You can either log out and log in again, renewing your Kerberos ticket,
or you can go into /System/Library/CoreServices/Kerberos.app and renew
your ticket from there.

Hope this helps!

We authenticate using password.
Thanks

You mentioned originally that turning DHCP off/on would sometimes
resolve this problem. Is your computer having network issues? Have you
checked the basics such as a loose network connection or faulty Ethernet
switch that's intermittently disconnecting your computer?

Do you see any network messages in /Applications/Utilities/Console.app
around the time Entourage gets disconnected?

I have a client with the exact same problem (Entourage 2008/ OSX
10.6.2) that appears to have started only after his exchange host
upgraded their servers.. A Google search has netted me the same work
around (turning off TCP/IP and then reactivating it) but this work
around will not be acceptable as a permanent solution for the client.
I remote into the client system so I can verify that the network is
not going up and down to cause this issue. If anyone knows of a
permanent fix, I would love to hear it.

Same issue. I have installed EWS edition on Snow Leopard. Connects,
downloads a few dozen emails, then pauses, shows Not Connected, and
eventually resumes. Definitely not the network, everything else is
stable, and it happens on wired and wifi at home and office.

VERY painful problem. It's going to take a month to do an initial
synch of mail, at this rate.
