I have just tried the following which I found somewhere on this forum (thank you to that person) and it has worked...all my e.mails have just gone. .. restart entourage when you have done the following....

1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

Check your Keychain for corruption.

Keychain First Aid:

Run Keychain Access found in /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access.

Go to the Keychain Access Menu and drag down to Keychain First Aid.
Enter your login password, click 'Verify' and 'Start'.

You will probably get some items colored red. Click 'Repair' and 'Start'. If
some items are still red, 'Repair' again.

Test to see if the problem is fixed. If not...

1. Go to the system keychain and delete the entry for that account.

2. Go to Entourage, select 'accounts' from the Tools menu, choose the
account that was giving you trouble and delete. Create a new account. Save.

Thanks Lynda.

It turns out that it was my ISP Virgin that was encountering the problems. 1 per minute for 5 minutes just to be told that the problem was at their end.... ouch!!!!

Thanks for your help anyhow.

Paul.

They probably mended the problem the same time as I thought I'd found the answer (I'm with Virgin too!) ......still I repaired 'something' in Keychain Access. Happy emailing.

Since the problem was at their end, I would ask for a refund of the 5 as a
credit against a future bill.

Good luck.
