Forwarding messages messes up HTML tables

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I frequently receive emails which include an HTML table, usually internally from another support person running on Outlook and a PC.

When I click Reply or Forward, and include the original message, the table formatting code is completely messed up. Looks like all the table tags are removed, so the text within each cell is now jumbled together.

I'm sure others must have seen this; it's very consistent. Any workarounds or fixes???

The only work around I have found is to forward as an attachment (an inconvenience for the receiver..an extra step for them to read an attachment is often ignored). This is a major issue for me as I have created a table for my audience that I am unable to forward when using entourage, so I switch to a PC to forward (another inconvenience). This is one area PC trumps the Mac and it is a shame Entourage has not resolved it.

I've run into the same problem as well -- Entourage cannot handle most any HTML formated messages with forwarding.

Other Mac mail programs have no problem with this at all. My work around it to jump over and use either Apple-Mail, or Thunderbird (from the folks that make FireFox). Both of those email programs have absolutely no problem forwarding HTML formatted emails. Thunderbird is a free download from the Mozilla website.

embedded hyperlinks in text and graphics, etc.

Entourage does support composing "simple" HTML messages. This is akin to
messages with Rich Text Formatting (RTF). it is limited to using
different font styles, flushing text left/right/center, a simple rule
line, etc.

Because Entourage cannot compose a complex HTML message, it therefore
cannot simply forward complex HTML messages. Afterall, forwarding a
message is really just creating a new mail message and dumping in the
text of the original message.

To work around this, use the Message menu --> Forward as Attachment to
preserve the complex HTML.

If I attach the initial message it is being sent as a file with .eml
extension. Are you sure that other mail clients will open it?

The .eml format is an E-mail standard. When other clients receive it and
open it as an attachment, they are essentially opening it as if it were
sent directly.

The problem with forwarding as an attachment is that it then includes the full message header. My job requires a certain amount of discretion when forwarding messages. Hopefully this "by design" failure will be corrected in the forthcoming Outlook for Mac.

I remember when Entourage used to forward HTML email just fine, was that before the html enhancement. It seem like the problem started with one of Entourage updates.

I now do a screen capture and paste that into the email, making it much much larger.

With all of the improvements, I feel like there is one step forward and two back.
