After upgrading to version 6 of MSN Messenger I can no longer sign in.
I don't even get an error message – just goes straight back to the sign
in button in the main window.
I know for a fact that my details are correct and I am able to sign in
with a backup account that uses a hotmail address. I don't suppose not
having a hotmail address has anything to do with it?
Looks like I'll have to downgrade for now. :(

Hi Rebecca,
Thanks for your reply. Well pickle me grandmother but your suggestion
was actually the first thing I tried when I couldn't sign in.
Unfortunately without success both times I tried it.
I noticed that the upgrading of the Message History which occurs after
completion of the Setup Wizard seems to fail for me at about 50%
completion. My Messenger History folder is about 26MB in size. Not sure
if this has anything to do with the problem but thought it worth a
mention.
In the meantime, I've downgraded to Messenger 5.1.1 and all is working
normally for me again.
Regards,
Wade

so what's the solution for this problem?
should we keep using 5.1.1?
