Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Does everyone understand that there are so many better choices for Mac users out there than Microsoft? It is alarming that this company has become one of those "too big to [let] fail," because, boy, it sure has failed to keep up with the state of the art in just about every category. No video support for Messenger? Just add that to the list of missed opportunities. And yet they continue to rake in the money. I simply do not understand it.

I use messenger on Mac 7.02 and I have video. I will say though, that
I do not use video a lot. 98% of my IM communication is text, the rest
is A/V, this is true with my iChat client as well. I will agree that
Apple's iChat is vastly superior to Messenger. If you are looking to
use video, you will have limitations in Messenger. Just the way it is.
Don't get your hopes up too high, life is too short.

You need a corporate server for that.
Video has been available for these servers for a while. It's for the
rest of us folks, that it's not.
The problem resides in the fact that Messenger for Windows is taking
for ever to migrate to the new video encoding standards that Messenger
for Mac has already adopted.
We're waiting for the Windows folks to flip the switch on :-\

2 years. No update. No A/V support. No offline messaging support. No contact display pictures fix. No Winks. No Nudge. No support for multiple clients connected to same account. Nothing. NOTHING.
Does anyone need an explanation? Simply Microsoft doesn't want Macs to have a good MSN client. Want all the features? Go to Windows.

Oh! I'm waiting for the beta you guys promised for march, in despite of not putting too much faith on that.

So frustrating isn't it. From Anav's blog post of December 2008, "We are now on the path to implement A/V support in the personal service" and "We are very excited to be able to bring A/V support to the personal service. Our plan is to deliver a beta version of A/V in 2009"

Not surprising there have been no new updates of information seeing as its just no news and another year of let down.

Go grab aMSN, its free and works. Something Microsoft aseem to be unable to achieve.....

Here's a topic I am popping in on to add my three cents and a tongue lashing at microsoft.

I have a macbook. A lot of my friends are pc users and live all over the world.

I can't connect up with many of them via cam as I once did when I had pc. The corporate account would have allowed me to do so easily but I can't log into it because of some jack off at microsoft was so short sighted or was pissed off at Mac that day? I can't get off line messages either.....but if I log in on my pc I find them from 6 months ago popping up like crazy?

I'm glad I went mac and won't turn back.

Microsoft lost out on a possible cross sell from me.

Thanks for the space to gripe!
