Every time I sign into MSN for Mac it asks to download the new version
again and it won't work until I do, even though I have the new
version. Anyone know how to fix this?

Hi Caz!

You may have downloaded it but have you installed it? You should be
receiving a .bin or .dmg file. Open that and drag the Messenger
application into your Applications folder, replacing your old one.

Hope this helps!

I have the same problem.
I installed and dragged Messenger to my App. folder already.
I open that .bin thing but it just kinda duplicates and I don't know what to do with it =/

I have loaded the new version and it worked for a while, now Messenger keeps trying to sign on, but for the past two days has not been able to, it just keeps trying, no error message at all.

It duplicates to me too. And I have the .dmg file on the application folder too. Some way it doubles and it doesn't sign in.

I had the older version of messenger and I could not sign in because I kept getting a message telling me to update. I have now removed the older version of messenger and have installed 6.0.3 but i still can't sign in. I am getting very frustrated, does anyone know what I should do?

I had the same problem. In Spotlight type in Microsoft Messenger and make sure the application is actually deleted. Then go to versiontracker.com or another download site and download the latest version. This should work, it worked with me. Another alternative would be Microsoft AutoUpdate which is pre-installed with the Office 2004 software. I'm not too good with computers and this worked for me. Let me know if it worked for you.

Yeah it does that to me too, I wish I could use the older version cause the new 6.0.1 just suck! I can't use a web cam nor can I even give nicknames to my contacts. an this is just the first day I'm almost sure i'll find a bunch of other little annoyances along the way.

Hi,

"Appear offline" does the trick.
