I'm having trouble adding a profile pic on my MAC

I'm not that good with computers and I'm having a lot of trouble with adding a profile pic to my MSN messenger. It keeps telling me to make sure the file is in a valid picture format, even when I try to just change it to one of those pictures that is given to you it doesn't work. I click on OK and nothing happens. May someone help me please.

Are you running the Beta 8?
The beta doesn't support display pics. If not - browse this forum for a solution.
