Hello I was wondering if it was possible to "appear offline" on msn messenger, but at the same time still have conversations with those on my contact list, the same way Windows Live Messenger allows you to do on a PC?

Hi,

At this time you can appear offline, but you can't send Ims. We have it on
our list as a suggestion and we are considering it for our next release.

Thanks,

Microsoft really makes me laugh... on their blog, they said that they
were just waiting for WLM 9 to be finish so they could adjust the
Audio and Video chat... and now, Rebecca Harris (who works for them)
says and i quote "We have it on our list as a suggestion and we are
considering it for our next release." So does that mean that they
haven't really started building a new version yet?

oh come on... that must be a joke

Hi, what that means is I can't confirm whether something is or is not in the
product until it is public. The product is currently being worked on.

Thanks,
Rebecca

On my Windows messenger I appear on-line, while others see me offline. How to fix that?

Hi Rebecca.

It would be nice to have audio and video as being said about the betas, but the incapabilities concerning Messenger 6 and offline messages are making the product UNUSABLE, making lots of people run to clone products as aMSN.

You have a good design on Messenger:Mac and a very good usability, but - for instance - being unable to answer a message sent by an offline contact that is on Windows Live Message after some (SMALL) time that it has been sent by the contact is just a single usue between others on the actual product.

So, even i knowing it passes trough corporative choices and agendas, I recommend you all on the team to think about offline messages not as a feature but as a primary compability usue that concerns not only to mac users but also to Windows Live Messenger users.

PS: Im a Windows Server 08 beta tester (and was one of the early vista testers) and would like to know how to involve on mac products betas as Messenger and Office since i use Macs also.

Am i right in thinking that if i am sent a message while offline i never get to see it unless i log on to my pc, or have i missed a setting somewhere ?

'lost' quite a few comments this way ...

Rebecca, appreciate your position on where things are, but is there a public roadmap for the next year ?

Cheers

Hi Phil, you are correct.

As for a public roadmap, you can keep up with Messenger for Mac on the

I agree, it would be really nice if mac users were able to use all of the Windows Live perks that I could if I had a pc.

I just switched over to Mac one week ago, and was assured that Mac users could use MSN and I was very disapointed when I learned that I could not use webcam OR offline messages.

These two aspects are very important to my use of im and MSN is the primary program that I use.

Please, please work on these aspects, they would make me a lot more content with my new purchase of a Mac.

agree with the comments, i thought by having a laptop, i was upgrading messenger also, but no video call when you have family all over the world and want to see them! this is so daft, so basically the messenger mac is a let down as far as im concerned, i would love to stay offline and get peace talking to family in messenger conversations without being interupted....you never said when (if at all!!???) we can look forward to the changes?? think the sooner the better, im tempted to set up my pc and have what i did before!!!
