Can you please try the following:
Move/delete the "Microsoft Messenger Data" folder from the MUD - that's
where we cache user tile information. Please let us know if this helps.

Hi, please try the following:
1. Go to your ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data folder and inside there is the
Microsoft Messenger Data folder. When Messenger IS NOT launched move this
folder to the desktop. Then launch Messenger, sign-in and try to change your
display picture.
If the above doesn't work, please try the following:
Launch Messenger, but don't sign-in
Choose the option to "Sign in with a different account . . ."
Click Clear Account History . . .
Click Clear History
Now click Sign-in and enter your credentials again
