Greek letter "pi (π)" at the custom message, quits the application.

When I "type a personal message" in Greek and typing the letter "pi
(π)", the application quits immediately and no report or re-open
window appears.
It's like the killing the application :-)

I use os x 10.4.8 and MSN 6.0.1 version. This bug existed in the
previous version of MSN too.

It's far different typing the Greek "pi" in a sentence, than using
shift+option+P. These two are different things.

ok, let me initial this story and express it more clearly.

I am living in Greece, my mother language is Greek, so I use mac os x
10.4.8 with default the US keyboard layout and secondary layout the
Greek keyboard layout.

When I am about to "type a custom message" at the MSN contact list
window and try to type the Greek character "pi" (π in Greek which
equals to the international letter P), MSN is quiting immediately like
it is killing the app itself.
I get no warnings and no "reopen/send report" popup window after that.

I tried to use shift-option-P instead, but this "pi" character is far
differenet as it appears when you write it using the Greek keyboard
layout.

You could try it your self, just simply:
system prefs >
international >
"input menu" tab >
select "Greek" (just Greek and not the polytonic Greek) >

now change the layout to the Greek layout and try to "type a personal
message" at the MSN contact list window. Press P at your keyboard and
see what happens.

Excellent instructions and explanation. I am reproducing your problem on
my machine.

However, I am noticing something else, which leads me to believe this
may or may not be a Messenger problem. Messenger quits as you describe
but I also see the International input menu switch back to the U.S.
input. I'm also unable to reselect the Greek layout unless I return to
the International System Preferences pane.

Now, if I open TextEdit, switch to the Greek layout and type "p" for the
pi symbol I don't reproduce this problem. Furthermore, I am able to copy
and paste this pi character into the "(Type a personal message)" field.

Rebecca Harris with Microsoft frequents this group and is hopefully
monitoring this thread. Let's hope she logs this as a potential bug in
Messenger.

well, that gives a solution to this bug and I would like to thank you
for this :-).
Now it is obvious that typing the Greek "pi" is not acceptable, but you
can simply copy paste the character or phrase (including "pi") from
TextEdit.
