Hi,
Can you quit Messenger, then go to Documents/Microsoft User Data and place
the Microsoft Messenger Data folder on your Desktop. Then relaunch and see
if you can change your display picture?
If that works, something in your cache is corrupted. These files also
contain any custom emoticons, custom user tiles you have created/used
previously, so they will need to be recreated.

so do i just have to leave it there? thats what i've been doing its
helped a little. It still screws up sometimes. Less than before though.
Its really slow when i go to change my display pictures though. I'll
click "change display picture" and it will be atleast a minute before
it opens, sometimes it doesn't.
