Looking to create somewhat complex formula...need to add totals and average several rows if the beginning cell = name

Hello,

Thank you for any help you can provide in advance...

I am trying to create a formula to add B2 through H4 and then average
them by the total number of cell with values in them only if there is
a value in A2. And if there is a value in C2, then I only want to add
the values from B2 to H3. I created a screen shot of this image but
I cant figure out how to upload to this page.

This is what I am at at this point:

=(SUMIF(A2,"1",B2:H4)/COUNT(B2:H4))

1 being a generalization and interchangable with other values.
If anyone knows how to help, please let me know.
